Starting jiu-jitsu can be intimidating. I see it in the eyes of every new student. I remember the feelings for myself. You realize quickly that no amount of confidence or strength is enough to keep the smallest experienced guy on the mat from repeatedly controlling and submitting you. The usual first goal is getting to the point where you don’t feel helpless on the mat.
To that end, I’d like to give my students a clear place to start. This is going to take a while to build out to the point that I want, but like jiu-jitsu, it will evolve and adapt in the most needed areas first. Above all, I want to make it easy to follow without neglecting the deeper issues for the more experienced students that are trying to learn everything on their way to black belt. I’m on that path as well.
Let’s get started.
