I’ve spent the last couple weeks sparring with only one hand because my left hand is injured. It’s presented a lot of frustration, but it also made me think a lot. It’s also been a while since I made up a game for the adults. Chocolate, meet peanut butter.
So, for tonight’s fundamentals class, I had my students spar with an unwieldy ball that they had to keep control of. This exercise is designed to put students in a situation where they are replicating an injured limb and they have to compensate on the fly to deal with both offense and defense.
It’s also silly and fun, so there’s that angle as well. . .
